S&P 500 Rises After Earnings From Macy’s and Kohl’s

U.S. stocks turned lower in morning trading despite strong earnings from Macy’s and Kohl’s and unemployment data that showed the labor market is continuing to recover.

The S&P 500 ticked down 0.2% after the broad-market index closed down 0.3% Wednesday. The Nasdaq Composite Index declined 0.4%, as technology stocks erased most of their early gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.7%.
